Crochet bull and cow amigurumi

Crochet your own lovely little bull or cow with this easy to follow free amigurumi pattern. The pattern is suitable for the intermediate crochet crafter.

You will need:

  • Yarn Art Jeans yarn: mustard yellow #84, brown #40, beige #07, petron green #63 or burgundy #66
  • 1.5 mm crochet hook
  • 6 mm safety eyes
  • Yarn needle and scissors
  • Fiberfill

Height: 9.5 cm (3.7”).

Abbreviations:
R — row
ch — chain
st — stitch
sc — single crochet
dc — double crochet
inc — increase
dec — decrease
sl st — slip stitch
[…] – number of stitches you should have at the end of the row
(…) – repeat whatever is between the brackets the given number of times

Legs and body

Legs (make 2)
With brown yarn:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (1 sc, inc) repeat 3 times [9]
R 3: 9 sc
Change to green/red yarn:
R 4-5: 9 sc (2 rows)
Crochet the second leg, do not fasten off.

Make 3 ch and join with the first leg.
R 6: 9 sc on the first leg, 3 inc in 3 ch, 9 sc on the second leg, 3 inc in 3 ch (opposite side) [30]
R 7-8: 30 sc (2 rows)
Change to yellow yarn:
R 9-10: 30 sc (2 rows)
R 11: (3 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
R 12-13: 24 sc (2 rows)
R 14: (2 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
R 15-16: 18 sc (2 rows)
R 17: (1 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [12]
R 18: 12 sc
Fasten off.

Arms (make 2)
With brown yarn:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: 6 sc
Change to yellow yarn:
R 3-8: 6 sc (6 rows)
Don’t stuff with fiberfill.
Fold the top opening flat and 3 sc through both sides.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Horns (make 2)
With beige yarn:
R 1: 5 sc in magic ring [5]
R 2-4: 5 sc (3 rows)
Don’t stuff with fiberfill.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Ears (make 2)
With yellow yarn:
R 1: 5 sc in magic ring [5]
R 2: (inc) repeat 5 times [10]
R 3-5: 10 sc (3 rows)
Don’t stuff with fiberfill.
Fold the top opening flat and 5 sc through both sides.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Fold the ear edges together and sew them together – view video at 19:00.

Head
With yellow yarn:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
R 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
R 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [24]

Insert safety eyes between R 8 and R 9 at the distance of 5 st from each other.

Tail (36:12)
With yellow yarn:
Make 8 ch.
From the 2nd ch from hook: 7 sl st.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Strap (make 2)

With green/red yarn:
Make 21 ch.

Assembly
Sew muzzle to the head under eyes, put some stuffing inside the muzzle before you finish (view video at 31:58).
Sew ears to the head between R 5 and R 6 (view video at 33:00).
Sew horns between R 2 and R 3 (view video at 34:10).
Sew tail on R 9 of the body.
