Benny the Easter bunny amigurumi

This cute plush bunny with a basket of Easter eggs is all you need to decorate your home this Easter. Using plush yarn in pastel or bright colors and working in the amigurumi technique, you can make this crochet bunny in no time. The size of finished amigurumi bunny is about 20 cm (7.8″) tall with ears.

You will need:

  • Himalaya Dolphin Baby yarn for a bunny, YarnArt Jeans for a bow tie and a basket with Easter eggs, Alize Softy (in two threads) or Alize Softy Plus (in one thread) for a tail and cheeks
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook for bunny, 2.5 mm for cheeks and tail, 2.0 mm for basket and eggs
  • 12 mm safety eyes
  • 20 mm white felt circles
  • 12*14 mm safety nose
  • Black embroidery floss for a mouth and eyebrows
  • Tapestry needle and scissors
  • Piece of cardboard
  • Glue gun
  • Some wire for handle
  • Fiberfill

Legs (make 2)
With Himalaya Dolphin Baby yarn and 3.5 mm crochet hook:
R 1: 8 sc in magic ring [8]
R 2-4: 8 sc (3 rows)
Stuff gently with fiberfill.
1 ch, fold the top opening flat and 4 sc through both sides.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Arms (make 2)
With Himalaya Dolphin Baby yarn and 3.5 mm crochet hook:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2-7: 6 sc (6 rows)
Stuff only bottom of the arm.
1 ch, fold the top opening flat and 3 sc through both sides.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Tail
With Alize Softy or Alize Softy Plus yarn and 3.5 mm crochet hook:

R 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]

Stuff gently with fiberfill.

Cheeks (make 2)
With Alize Softy or Alize Softy Plus yarn and 3.5 mm crochet hook:
Make 5 ch.
Make an oval, starting from the 2nd ch from hook, work on both sides of the chain.
R 1: from the 2nd ch from hook: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 3 dc in last st, turn: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, sl st
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Bow tie
With YarnArt Jeans yarn and 2.0 mm crochet hook:
In magic ring: (1 sc, 3 ch, 3 dc, 3 ch) repeat 2 times, 1 sl st
Wrap the yarn around the middle several times. Sew the bow on the body, under the cheeks.

Basket
With YarnArt Jeans yarn and 2.0 mm crochet hook:

R 2: (inc) repeat 8 times [16]
R 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 8 times [24]
R 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat 8 times [32]
R 5: (3 sc, inc) repeat 8 times [40]
R 6: BLO 40 sc
R 7-13: 40 sc (7 rows)
R 14: reverse sc
Fasten off.

Cut out a circle of cardboard the same size as the bottom of the basket. Using a glue gun, glue the cardboard circle to the bottom of the basket and then glue a little fiberfill in the bottom.

To make a handle, take a thin wire and tightly wrap yarn around the wire handle. When you reach the end of the handle, use your glue gun to secure the yarn in the ends. Attach the handle to the basket and fix it (form the ends of the wire handle into loops).

With YarnArt Jeans yarn and 2.0 mm crochet hook:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
