Crochet sweet duck amigurumi

Get ready to crochet your very own sweet duck with this free amigurumi pattern. This cute duck amigurumi is made using plush yarn and is a quick easy project. Your finished duck toy size depends on your tension, the yarn weigh and the size of hook you use.

You will need:

  • Yarn: the sample of this amigurumi was make with Premier Parfait Chunky (#6 Super Bulky) in the colors yellow and tangerine
  • 4.5 mm (7) crochet hook
  • 0.6″ safety or felt eyes
  • Glue for felt
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Sewing pins
  • Fiberfill stuffing

Abbreviations:
R – row
sc – single crochet
ch – chan
hdc – half double crochet
tr – treble crochet
inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec – decrease (2 sc together)
FLO – front loops only
FO – fasten off
[…] – number of stitches you should have at the end of the row
(…) repeat 5 times – repeal the instruction within the parentheses 5 times

Bill
Work in tangerine:
R 1: ch 7 [7]
R 2: skip the first ch, 6 sc, continue working on the other side of the chain: 6 sc [12]
R 3: 2 sc, 2 hdc, 8 sc [12]
Do not stuff.

Tail
Work in yellow:

If you are using safety eyes, place them between rows 8-9, leaving 5 stitches of space between them.

Continue working on the body:
Body
In the next row we will attach the tail into the body.
R 15: 1 sc, ch 1, 6 sc on the tail (start working after the FO of the tail), ch 1, continue working on the next stitch of the body: (3 sc, inc) repeat 4 times, 1 sc [30]

Stuff with fiberfill.

Close the body passing the needle through the front loop of each of the stitches of the last round [12] and pull until closed.
Sew to close the small hole between the body and tail using the long tail of yarn of the tail.

Assembly and details
The bill is placed above R 10, sewn around R 9, and the peak of the bill (the 2 hdcs) is
sewn above R 8.
Place the eyes under R 7, leaving 5 stitches of space between them.
The wings are sewn between R 16-17. If you are making the version with the head facing forward, leave 8 stitches of space between them. If you are making the version with the head to one side, leave 15 stitches of space between them.

Crochet Mallard duck amigurumi

Mallard duck
If you want to make the Mallard duck, use Key Lime for the head and in R 13-14 use white. Use Toffee for the body, wings and tail, and use sunshine for the bill.

Pekin duck
If you want to make the Pekin version, simply, change the yellow for white, and the tangerine for yellow.
