This free and easy crochet pattern is for an adorable small chick and bunny baskets to hold eggs. Perfectly sized to hold a single Easter egg or a bit of candy too! They are ideal for presents to others or a table decoration with chocolate eggs.

You will need:

Basket
Start with yellow/grey yarn:
R 1: 8 sc in magic ring [8]
R 2: (inc) repeat 8 times [16]
R 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 8 times [24]
R 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat 8 times [32]
R 5: (3 sc, inc) repeat 8 times [40]
R 6: (4 sc, inc) repeat 8 times [48]
R 7: BLO 48 sc
R 8-13: 48 sc (6 rows)
R 14 for chick: 20 sc, change to red yarn: (sl st, 3 hdc in one st) repeat 3 times, sl st, change to yellow yarn: 18 sc, 3 dc in one st, 1 sc, sl st. Fasten off.
R 14 for bunny: 48 sc. Fasten off.
Wings for chick basket (make 2)
With yellow yarn:
- R 1: 6 sc in magic ring, sl st
- 5 ch, from the 2nd ch from hook: 4 sc, sl st in st of R 1
- 7 ch, from the 2nd ch from hook: 6 sc, sl st in st of R 1
- 5 ch, from the 2nd ch from hook: 4 sc, sl st in st of R 1
- 4 sl st on sts of R 1
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Ears for bunny basket (make 2)
With grey yarn:
Make 12 ch.
R 1: From the 2nd ch from hook: 4 sc, 3 hdc, 3 dc, 5 dc in one st, turn and continue crocheting on the opposite side of chain: 3 dc, 3 hdc, 4 sc, sl st.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Muzzle for bunny basket
With milk white yarn:
Make 5 ch.
R 1: From the 2nd ch from hook: inc, 2 sc, 4 sc in one st, turn and continue crocheting on the opposite side of chain: 2 sc, inc [12]
R 2: 12 sc
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Tail for bunny basket
With milk white yarn:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
R 3: 12 sc
R 4: (dec) repeat 6 times [6]
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembly
Insert safety eyes between R 11 and R 12, at the distance of 3-4 st in between them.
For chick: Sew the wings to the basket. Embroider a beak and feet with orange yarn.
For bunny: Sew the muzzle, ears ans tail to the basket.
Embroider a nose with pink yarn and whiskers with black embroidery floss.
