You will need:

  • YarnArt Jeans yarn (55% cotton, 45% acrylic, 50 g/160 m): color #86 (yellow) – 0.5 skein, #79 (mint) – a little
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • 3 mm black beads (4 pcs.)
  • 8 cm foam ball
  • 7 mm half pearl beads for decoration
  • Glue gun
  • Dry pink pastel for toning
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Fiberfill

Crochet Christmas ball tutorial

Hanger for a ball
R 1: 10 sc in magic ring [10]
R 2: BLO: 10 sc
R 3: 10 sc, sl st
Fasten off.

Cut a piece of yarn 20 cm long. Fold in half, pull the yarn throught the middle of the magic ring. Tie a knot on the yarn ends.
Sew the hanger on the top of the ball.

Embroider the ball with mint yarn.

Dragon (make 2)

Head
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
R 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
R 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
R 5-7: 24 sc (3 rows)
R 8: (dec, 1 sc) repeat 8 times [16]
Stuff with fiberfill.
R 9: (dec) repeat 8 times [8], sl st
Fasten off.

Muzzle
Make 5 ch.
Make an oval, starting from the 2nd ch from hook, work on both sides of the chain.
R 1: from the 2nd ch from hook: inc, 2 sc, 3 sc in one st, turn: 3 sc [10]
R 2: (inc) repeat 2 times, 2 sc, (inc) repeat 3 times, 2 sc, inc [16]
R 3: 16 sc, sl st
Fasten off.

Ears (make 2)
Make 4 ch.
Insert your hook into the first chain stitch and make a slip stitch, 3 ch, then insert the hook into the first chain stitch and make a slip stitch, 3 ch. Insert your hook into the first chain stitch again and make a slip stitch.
Fasten off.

Arms (make 2)
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2-5: 6 sc (4 rows), sl st
Don’t stuff with fiberfill.
Fasten off.

Assembly
Sew the muzzle, ears and eyes on the head.
Embroider eyelids above the eyes with some stitches using a main color yarn.
Embroider spikes on the head with 6-7 stitches.
Tone nostrils and inner part of the ears using dry pastel.
Glue the arms on the ball, then a head. The distance between the arms should be such that the head fits.

Glue half pearl beads on the ball.
