Crochet fox and raccoon amigurumi

Free crochet pattern for a mini fox and raccoon made using the same amigurumi pattern. These adorable mini crochet animals measure approximately 8-9 cm (3-3.5″) tall when finished. To make these tiny amigurumi toys, you will need Alize “ANGORA REAL 40” yarn and a 1.25 mm crochet hook. The legs and body of the fox and raccoon are crocheted as one piece, while the tail and arms are crocheted directly into the body as you work. The remaining parts are sewn on to complete the toys.

  • Alize “ANGORA REAL 40” yarn (480 m / 100 g) or equivalent yarn (250 m / 50 g)
  • 1.25-1.5 mm crochet hook
  • 3 mm black beads for the eyes
  • Black thread

Head

Start with white yarn:
R 1: 5 sc in magic ring [5]
R 2: 2 sc, inc, 2 sc [6]
R 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 3 times [9]
R 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat 3 times [12]
R 5: 12 sc
Change to grey yarn:
R 6: 12 sc
R 7: (1 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
R 8: 6 sc, 6 inc, 6 sc [24]
R 9: 7 sc, (inc, 1 sc) repeat 5 times, inc, 6 sc [30]
R 10: (4 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [36]

R 12-20: 42 sc (9 rows)
R 21: (5 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [36]

Crochet raccoon head

Ears (make 2)

With grey yarn:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (1 sc, inc) repeat 3 times [9]
R 3: (2 sc, inc) repeat 3 times [12]
R 4-5: 12 sc (2 rows)
Fold the top opening flat and sc through both sides.

Work around the ears with white yarn using single crochet stitches (sc) along both sides (see the photo below).

Eye spots for the raccoon (make 2)

With black yarn:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6], 1 turning chain
R 2: from the 2nd ch from hook: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc
Fasten off. Cut the black yarn, leaving a long tail.

Then turn your work and attach the white yarn.
R 3: 5 sc
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Tail

Start with black yarn:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (1 sc, inc) repeat 3 times [9]
R 3: (2 sc, inc) repeat 3 times [12]
Change to grey yarn:
R 4: (3 sc, inc) repeat 3 times [15]
R 5-6: 15 sc (2 rows)
Change to black yarn:
R 7: 15 sc
Change to grey yarn:
R 8-9: 15 sc

Change to black yarn:

Change to grey yarn:

Stuff the tail 1/2 full.

Arms (make 2)

R 2: (inc) repeat 5 times [10]
R 3-4: 10 sc (2 rows)
R 5: dec, 8 sc [9]
R 6-10: 9 sc (5 rows)
Stuff the arm 1/2 full.
Fold the top opening flat and sc through both sides.
Fasten off.

Legs and body (one piece)

Legs (make 2)
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
R 3-4: 12 sc (2 rows)
R 5: 2 dec, 8 sc [10]
R 6-7: 10 sc (2 rows)
Fasten off on the first leg only.

Crochet the second leg, do not fasten off. If necessary, crochet a few additional single crochet stitches (sc) on the second leg.
Make 4 ch and join with the first leg. In total there will be 28 stitches.

Continue crocheting the body in the round.
R 1: 28 sc
R 2: 24 sc, 4 inc [32]
The increases are worked on the front (belly) of the toy.
Stuff the legs.
R 3: (7 sc, inc) repeat 4 times [36]
R 4-11: 36 sc (8 rows)
Between 6 and 7 rows, crochet the tail into the body (crochet the tail stitches together with the body stitches).

R 14: (3 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
R 15: 24 sc
R 16: (2 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
In the next round, crochet the arms into the body, positioning them parallel to the legs.
R 17: 18 sc (crochet the arm stitches together with the body stitches)
R 18: 18 sc
Stuff the body.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly and finishing

Crochet raccoon head and body
  1. Sew the eye spots onto the head.
  2. Embroider the nose with black thread.
  3. Sew on the eyes.
  4. Sew the ears between rows 18-19, with approximately 11-12 sc between them.
  5. Sew the head to the body.
