The little capybara toy keychain will be a cute gift for kids and friends! It can be hung not only on keys, but also on a bag or backpack. Follow this free amigurumi pattern to crochet your very own capybara wearing a pink skirt and bow. The finished size of the amigurumi capybara keychain is about 6 cm (2.4″).

You will need:

  • YarnArt Jeans yarn (55% cotton, 45% acrylic, 50 g/160 m): beige #07 for a body (main color), brown #71 for a muzzle, ears and legs, pink #78 for a skirt and bow
  • 2.0 mm crochet hook
  • Black YarnArt Iris yarn (100 % cotton, 20 g/138 m) or embroidery thread for a nose and eyes
  • Sewing needle
  • Scissors
  • Fiberfill
  • Keychain ring

Free amigurumi capybara pattern

Abbreviations:
R – row
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
BO – bobble stitch consists of 4 unfinished double crochet stitches clustered together in each chain
inc – increase (2 single crochet in 1 stitch)
dec – decrease
sl st – slip stitch
BLO – back loops only
FLO – front loops only
[…] – number of stitches you should have at the end of the row
(…) – repeat whatever is between the brackets the given number of times

Head and body (one piece)
Stuff as you go.

With beige yarn:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
R 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
R 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
R 5: (3 sc, inc) repeat 6 times [30]
R 6: beige – 9 sc, brown – BO (bobble stitch), beige – 10 sc, brown – BO, beige – 9 sc [30]
R 7-10: 30 sc (4 rows)
R 11: BLO 30 sc
R 12: (8 sc, dec) repeat 3 times [27]
R 13: beige – 10 sc, brown – BO, beige – 7 sc, brown – BO, beige – 8 sc [27]
R 14: (7 sc, dec) repeat 3 times [24]
R 15-17: 24 sc (3 rows)
R 18: (2 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
R 19: (1 sc, dec) repeat 6 times [12]

Fasten off.

Skirt
Attach the pink yarn to the front loop of the R 11 of the body.
R 1: FLO (3 dc in one stitch) repeat 30 times
Fasten off.

Muzzle
With brown yarn:
Make 4 ch. Make an oval, starting from the 2nd ch from hook, work on both sides of the chain.
R 1: from the 2nd ch from hook: 2 sc, 3 sc in last st, turn: 1 sc, inc [8]
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew the muzzle to the head as shown in the photo.

Embroider a nose and eyes using a black thread.

Ears (make 2)
Attach the brown yarn to the R 18 of the body with sl st: 3 ch, sl st in R 19.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Bow
With pink yarn:
Make 16 ch, leaving a long tail at the beginning.
Fasten off and leave a long tail.
Tie up two tails together. Wrap the middle of the bow with the remaining yarn tails.

Sew the bow to the top of the head.
