Funny frog with mushroom hat free pattern

This free amigurumi frog with mushroom hat pattern is pretty easy and quick to make. The head, body and legs of the crochet frog are made as one piece and no sewing on of parts. The size of the finished frog using specified materials is about 6-7 cm (2.5″). Since everyone has their own crochet tension, the size of the toy may vary.

You will need:

• Plush yarn #6 Super Bulky – Himalaya Dolphin Baby (100 % polyester, 120 m/100 g): green, white, red and pink colors
• 4 mm crochet hook
• 10 mm safety eyes
• Some black threads like YarnArt Jeans to embroidery the mouth
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Tweezers
• Stitch marker
• Fabric glue
• Stuffing (hollowfiber)

Free amigurumi frog pattern

Abbreviations:
R – row
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec – decrease (2 sc together)
BLO – back loop only
FLO – front loop only
[…] – number of stitches you should have at the end of the row
(…) – repeat whatever is between the brackets the given number of times

This pattern does not include crochet lessons. You must know how to read crochet patterns and have basic skills to crochet in continuous rounds and in turning rows.

The toy is crocheted in a spiral using a stitch marker on the last stitch of the round.

Frog
With green yarn:
R 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
R 3: 1 sc, inc, Eye socket, (inc, 1 sc) repeat 2 times, inc, Eye socket, inc, 1 sc, inc [18]

Eye socket – bo (bobble stitch) – consists of 5 unfinished trible crochet stitches clustered together in each chain.

R 4: (inc, 2 sc) repeat 6 times [24]
R 5-8: 24 sc (4 rows)
R 9: 6 sc, Leg, 3 sc, Leg, 2 sc, Leg, 3 sc, Leg, 6 sc [24]

Leg – bo (bobble stitch) – consists of 3 unfinished double crochet stitches clustered together in each chain.

R 10: BLO: (1 sc, dec) repeat 8 times [16]
Sluff the toy.
R 11: (dec) repeat 8 times [8]
Fasten off.

Mushroom

Stem
With white yarn:
R 1: 5 sc in magic ring [5]
R 2: 5 sc
R 3: FLO: (inc) repeat 5 times [10]
Fasten off.

Cap
With red yarn:
R 1: 5 sc in magic ring [5]
R 2: (inc) repeat 5 times [10]

Place 2 pieces together and crochet through the stem and cap 10 sc in red.
Don’t stuff.

Embroider white spots on the mushroom.

Assembly
Glue the eyes into the eye sockets.
Embroider the mouth between rows 4 and 5.
Embroider the cheeks with pink yarn.
Sew the mushroom to the frog.
